Interview with Jessica Meiman by Jenna Abrams
A USAC student chosen to be in the Macchina di Santa Rosa Parade…
Jenna: Jessica how did you get the lucky opportunity to be chosen for the parade?
Jessica: Studying abroad through USAC we were told about this one of a kind experience. Over sixty student’s names were in a hat, my name was one of six student’s names to be pulled. I was so thrilled!
Jenna: What was expected of you for the parade? What did you have to do?
Jessica: I met up with the costume designer beforehand and was fitted for my medieval dress which was an experience in itself haha. But after that was completed I was told the time and place to meet my fellow actors on the day of the event. When the parade started, dozens of us recreated the story by walking down the many streets of Viterbo.
Jenna: Were you able to see the hundreds of men carry the Macchina?
Jessica: Yes! It was probably one of the most incredible sights I have ever seen. I was lucky enough to witness first hand this magnificent tower being lifted up and moved around. If anyone is traveling around Italy in September this is a must see. A unique, one-of-a-kind type of experience that needs to be seen.0
