The Most Beautiful and Romantic Garden in the World
By: Jacqueline Phan USAC Student
Take a walk through the Ninfa Gardens located at Cisterna di Latina LT, Italy. Called the most beautiful and romantic garden in the world by the New York Times. This exquisite historical landmark was built over the destroyed city of Ninfa back in the 14th century. The name “Ninfa” was given after the Naiad Nymphs; goddesses of rivers, streams, and springs.
This botanical garden has much historical value as Ninfa became the property of the Caetani family (related to Boniface VIII). The end of the city came from the Papal Civil War as an attempt for conquest and the spreading of marshes. From the ruins of the medieval city came this romantic garden, designated as a Natural Monument of the Italian Republic in 2000.
We can see why The New York Times named it the most beautiful and romantic garden as plant specimens from all over the world were brought to this botanical garden. The plants freely grow as they please, creating a perfect harmony anywhere you walk. Each season brings a new experience in colors, scents, and atmosphere. So make Ninfa Gardens your next destination with INTUSCIA! Our guide will ensure you get to fully uncover the rich history and get the full experience of this magical destination.
