PIZZA PIZZA PIZZA!

When people mention Italian food the first things you think of are pasta and of course pizza. ** DISCLAIMER ** the Italians do pizza a little differently than how Americans do pizza. You will find toppings like hot dogs, tuna, and anchovies. Okay, okay anchovies are also somewhat common in other places too but still have no place being on a pizza. Also you won’t find any thick crust, deep dish, or cheese filled garlic crust on the menu. To put it this way, ingredients are fresh and pizzas are simple but nevertheless delicious. Here are a couple of suggestions that will definitely get you salivating. Oh and I forgot to mention pizza at all three of these places are $ aka you can have an entire pizza to yourself for about 10 euros or less.
- Sale E Pepe – Via della Bontà,Viterbo
You can find this place tucked between two coffee shops right when you enter Porta Romana.
This place or the food I had to write about it because it’s good for a quick bite or take out. They have slices for 1 euro – 1.60 euros or whole pies for 6-9 euros. I’ve only had their cheese ready to go slices (which they heat up for you, so it’s nice and melty when you eat it) but this is the pizza that reminds me most of American pizza.
- Il Labirinto – Via San Lorenzo, Viterbo
Out of all three of these places, I think this has the best atmosphere. Their menu is pretty much broken down into red and whites, no I’m not talking about wine although they have that too however, I’m talking about sauces. But the cool thing with this place is on the back of the menu they have half and halves where you can try two different pizzas if you’re like me and can’t make a decision to save your life. The service is prompt and kind.
3. Monastery Bipizza – Via Fattungheri, Viterbo
“Pizza so big it takes up two plates?! That’s insane. I’ll never be able to finish it!” My first thoughts going here but for my small stomach I was able to finish the whole thing. The pizzas are only 7 – 8 euros each. This place has a mom and pa atmosphere vibe. My only complaint is that the crust is extremely thin, but I’m bias in that respect.0
