Day in the life of a USAC student during fall
By Sammy Browne, USAC Student
The leaves are falling and so is the rain. Fall in viterbo is not only beautiful but also very wet. The whole month of November has brought rain almost every day. Since there isn’t as much exploring happening outside during these days this is a day in my life rainy edition. It’s a cloudy Sunday morning and I tend to wake up naturally at 8 or 10 a.m every weekend. After checking my social media I go downstairs to my kitchen and prepare some toast with jam and a nice cup of hibiscus tea. After everything has been cooked to perfection I walk out to my enclosed balcony and sit down with a view of the mountains and book in hand.
After relaxing for a while I start to hear the rain pitter patter on my glass. I occasionally decide to open up the windows and watch the rain fall while seeing the pigeons fly around. Once it’s past lunchtime Usually me and all my friends meet up at Caffeina. A place described on google as a Teatro, Libreria, and Bistrot combined. I order the large cappuccino con cacao and a red velvet looking muffin stuffed with delicious frosting. Usually we are studying for an Italian exam but today I am also making a list of all the places I want to visit before heading home both in Italy and abroad. Today Caffeina is packed with USAC student studying and a range of different customers enjoying their drinks. Halfway through the music stops playing and a man walks out to play songs on the piano.
After around three hours of studying, chatting, and listening to beautiful live music our brains are done and we decide to split up with the promise of meeting up later for dinner. On the way home I decide to stop into Tiger and purchase an umbrella, my old one had broken and I saw on the weather forecast that everyday next week would be rainy.
For dinner, La Sosta Del Suffragio was all booked so we headed over to Osteria del Vecchio Orologio for their truffle pasta and marinara pizza. We celebrated a day full of studying by ordering tiramisu and caramel mousse crumble. Afterward we parted ways I headed over to my neighbor who is a fellow USAC students apartment to catch up after the weekend and study some more for Italian. The night ends with me watching a Netflix episode and facetiming my friends and parents.
